Maureen Jackson

August 1, 1935 — January 25, 2023

Annie Maureen Snow Jackson, age 87, entered into the presence of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday morning, January 25, 2023. While holding fast to her faith during her final years of affliction and confinement, she has been set free from the limitations of her earthly vessel.

She is survived by her loving family, daughters, Amy Jackson and Carol Jackson Pryor, son-in-law, Richard Paul Pryor, and granddaughter, Sarah Anne Elizabeth Pryor, whom all cared for her at home until her death. She is also survived by dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, W. B. Jackson, Jr., precious infant son, Craig Alan, devoted parents, Robert Allen and Sarah Anne Eva Moody Snow, Sr., and cherished brothers, Robert Allen Snow, Jr. and Kenneth Wade Snow.

Mrs. Jackson was born in Stallo, Mississippi on August 1, 1935. She graduated from Noxapater High School as class valedictorian and editor of the school yearbook. Thereafter, she earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Southern Mississippi before taking her first public school choral music teaching position in Brookhaven. Upon marriage, she moved to Meridian and taught public school choral music at Northwest Junior High, Marion Park Elementary, Highland Elementary, and Oakland Heights Elementary over the years. During her teaching career and while raising her family, she furthered her education, driving weekly to Livingston, Alabama to obtain a master’s degree in music education from the University of West Alabama. After teaching public school choral music for 32 years, she retired from her teaching career and further assisted her husband in their business, Jackson’s Furniture Company.

Mrs. Jackson exemplified being a Christian wife, mother, and grandmother. She sacrificially gave and cared for her family. Most of all, she faithfully lifted them up in prayer. As her years increased, she voiced more and more a heart of thankfulness for all her many blessings, both great and small, sincerely uttering “Thank you, Jesus” numerous times throughout each day. She also touched many lives as a public school music teacher, truly caring about her students, their home life, and their future, encouraging them to put God first in their lives and to do their very best. Additionally, she used her God-given talent as a pianist, organist, choir director, and choir member to glorify Him in various churches throughout the years. She ran her race looking to the Author and Finisher of her faith and finished well.

The family would like to express their great appreciation to Quality Hospice Care in Philadelphia, Mississippi, especially Faith Anderson, RN, and Bessie Gale, CNA for their wonderful care of Mrs. Jackson during the last year of her life.
